Humility

I wish to humbly offer my definition of humility. Although it would be tempting to define it by what it isn’t, I will resist that temptation.

The humble person is:

(1)        Far more enamored of what it is they are working on than they are of themselves.

(2)        Ready to learn from anyone at any time.

(3)        Sees others and themselves in context and acts accordingly. Thus leads when that is called for, and follows when that is appropriate.

(4)        Knows that there is always more to learn.

What ties these attitudes together, whether consciously or not, is a commitment to a greater good, transcending the individuals’ ego.
